Luci4, Known for Viral Hit "BodyPartz," Dead at 23

While cause of death is not yet known, his grandparents are suspicious that foul play might have been involved.

Luci4, the rapper known for his viral hit "BodyPartz," has died at the age of 23.

According to TMZ, the LA County Medical Examiner confirmed that the young rapper (real name James Dear) passed away at a private residence, although cause of death is not yet known.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived to the home at 11:40am on Sunday (Feb. 22) after receiving a medical call, however the individual had already passed when they arrived and police were contacted.

His manager, Kayla G, Paid tribute to him in Instagram Stories on Sunday (Feb. 22). In the first post, she shared a photo of red roses and wrote: "The flowers you gave me and the songs you dedicated to me will always weigh so heavy in my heart. I’ll love you forever, axxturel."

In the follow-up post, she talked about how the best decision she ever made was becoming Luci4’s manager.

"We were inseparable. And we will forever be bonded together. I’ll see you soon king," she wrote.

While an investigation into the rapper’s death takes place, his grandparents shared with TMZ that they’re suspicious because according to them, Luci4's wallet was "completely emptied," and they had apparently warned him not too long before about "the people he’d been spending time with as his fame started taking off."

Luci4 rose to fame online as a pioneer of niche trap music genre “sigilkore.” After blowing up on TikTok in 2021, he signed a deal with Atlantic Records.

Besides making noise with songs like "All Eyez on Me" and "Ave Domina Lilith," his breakthrough hit "BodyPartz" is still his biggest hit to date, exploding across social media in 2021 and eventually being certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
