Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO are reportedly going their separate ways, after it was revealed on Monday (June 15) that the celebrity couple are divorcing.
According to court records obtained by TMZ, Jelly (real name Jason DeFord) filed for divorce from his media personality wife (real name Alisa DeFord) back in May in Tennessee.
While no official word has been released yet as to the reason for the divorce, sources told TMZ that it was "a mutual decision" and also "a private family matter."
The pair met in 2015 at a Las Vegas concert Jelly was performing at. After quickly forming a bond, they got married a year later.
Bunny, the host of the Dumb Blonde podcast, has discussed the ups and downs of her relationship with the rapper-turned-country singer in various interviews in the past.
Back in February, she appeared as a guest on The Howard Stern Show, where she reflected on Jelly's past infidelity and shared why she gave him a "second chance."
Going into detail about why she was "instantly drawn" to the rapper when they first met, she also addressed him cheating on her two years into their marriage and questioned why she had a pattern of attracting toxic men.
"I needed to look at the baggage that I brought in from that abusive relationship. And not that I'm making excuses for him, but most of the time when men cheat, women want to point the finger," Bunnie told Stern. "They just want to be like, 'It's your fault. You did this. I'm perfect.' And I didn't want to do that. I was like, 'I really love this man.' And I thank God for second chances because I am a second chance."
She continued: "And I feel like they don't deserve third chances, but they do deserve a second chance. And I just knew that something was so special in my husband. And I knew that he would become the man that he is today. He just needed somebody to love him."
Bunnie, who is stepmother to Jelly Roll's daughter, Bailee Ann, 17, and son Noah Buddy, 9, added that his cheating was one of the "darkest times" she’s experienced. When discovering that the musician had been unfaithful with a former fling, Bunnie said she considered suicide.
Jelly Roll spoke in October last year about his regret for stepping out on Bunnie, admitting that it was "one of the worst moments" of his life.
"I put in a lot of work to repair our relationship," he said on the Human School podcast, noting at the time that the pair was "stronger than we could have ever been." He admitted that while he wishes their story had unfolded without missteps, he was proud of where they landed. "I wish our story would’ve went in the way that it never had an affair … but man, I’m proud of who we are today. I truly am."
The "Need a Favor" singer then revisited cheating on Bunnie. "It was the first time that I was like, 'I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.' It just really, really, really blew me back," he said.
According to Jelly Roll, his choices at the time were influenced by the company he kept. "I was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives. When I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around a bunch of people that were doing cocaine," he explained.
He added that he no longer prides himself on long-standing friendships unless those people are genuinely supportive. "Now I want to only be around people I want to be like."
