The first week sales for Young Thug’s UY SCUTI are here.
Billboard reports that the album moved 52,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, with with 54.3 million streams. That earned him a No. 6 entry on the Billboard 200 album chart, and a No. 5 entry to its Top Streaming Albums chart. This is Thug’s ninth top 10 album on the Billboard 200.
Thug’s first week sales are slightly higher than HITS Daily Double’s first-week projections of 48,000 album-equivalent units.
Thug dropped UY SCUTI on Sept. 26. The LP featured Thug with a lightened skin tone on the cover. Hours before it came out, the rapper explained why he chose to make his skin brighter on it.
“IF YOU WANNA BE THE BIGGEST….GO WHITE!!” he wrote.
Since the album features appearances from a slew of artists like T.I., Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, and Quavo, Thug thought it would only be right if they were given the same skin treatment too. After the LP released, Thug hopped on Instagram to share photos of the guests from the album with the same skin brightening edit that he’d made to his own picture.
Along with the release of UY SCUTI, Thug released exclusive SP5DER merch that's available at Complex. Fans can purchase the vinyl in several alternate covers, including a special SP5DER edition, along with four SP5DER x UY SCUTI box sets that feature a CD, hoodie, shirt, and shorts.
Days after the album came out, Thug performed a surprise concert in front of the Fulton County Courthouse for his fans. He announced the surprise show hours before it happened on Sept. 28 and treated fans to a livestreamed show to promote the new album.
