R&B singer Teedra Moses claims that she made $5 million dollars from writing Christina Milian’s “Dip It Low.”

The 48-year-old singer recently sat down with Touré and detailed her experiences with writing and music publishing (around the 33:46 mark) in the video below. “I made five million on one song,” she explained. She then went into detail about how her earnings were so high. “It’s because I own 100%,” she explained. “It’s 200%— it’s weird in publishing. 100% publisher, 100% writer. I own my publishing too.”

Moses also explained how a familial connection helped her to avoid having to come out of pocket for any publishing expenses. “My sister learned how to administer publishing so I didn’t have to pay somebody else to administer publishing,” added.

“Dip It Low,” was the lead single from Milian’s 2004 album, It’s About Time. The track would become Milian’s biggest song to date, making it to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and the United Kingdom. The song was also nominated for the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2005 Grammy Awards and has been certified gold.

Last December, Moses clapped back at fans who criticized her for supporting R. Kelly, who has been convicted of sex crimes. Her supporters were upset after she named R. Kelly’s song “The Greatest Sex” as one of R&B’s five best tracks of all time, saying, “You can close your eyes and see everything he’s saying.”

She later said that Kelly is “one of the greatest songwriters to ever live,” and that he’s versatile because “he spans all the fields.”

After a fan criticized her on social media for saying that, Moses responded with, “Fuck u u ugly bitch and I ain’t blocking you cuz I got time in the new yr to bless u with these words!!! You don’t know me! But those that do know what I’m about. Go play with ya support dog bitch don’t play with me! Coming on this app w dat bullshit. I will slap piss from u!!”
