We asked several of today’s most popular rappers about their picks for Album of the Year at ComplexCon 2025. Their answers may surprise you.
When we caught up with Pusha T and Malice, who hit the stage together at the event, Push revealed his favorites to be Tyler, the Creator’s Don’t Tap The Glass and Playboi Carti’s Music. He also named Kendrick Lamar’s GNX as one of his favorites — but that came out in Nov. 2024.
Quavo had multiple picks as well: Metro Boomin’s A Futuristic Summa, Young Thug’s Uy Scuti, and Mariah the Scientist’s Hearts Sold Separately.
Other artists chose to spotlight themselves when asked the same question. We caught up with Ken Carson who quickly said “Me,” referring to his LP More Chaos that came out in April. 2hollis chose his own LP, Star, and gave a detailed explanation as to why.
“I think album of the year is which album that year touched you the most,” said 2hollis. “For me, I have to say Star, my own album. It meant the most to me. I think any other answer would have been the wrong one.”
ComplexCon 2025 had its fair share of fun and surprises on Oct. 25 and 26. One of them was when Young Thug hit the stage (as planned) and brought out two of his frequent collaborators, Quavo and Ty Dolla $ign. Other performers to hit the stage that weekend included Yeat, who brought out, among others, Sheck Wes, Sexyy Red, Don Toliver and Lil Yachty.
Speaking of Yeat — his merch collection from ComplexCon is available only on Complex. Prices range from $35 for bandanas and $45 for tees to $110 for hoodies.
Other wild moments like the Cash Money and No Limit Verzuz, Nigel Sylvester pulling up with a brick truck, Undefeated debuting its Air Max 95 collab, and a couple getting married with an Elvis impersonator made ComplexCon 2025 an unforgettable weekend.
