Nelly and Ashanti say they "hated each other before they ultimately got back together and had a child.
In the trailer for their new show Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together, the superstar couple reflected on the harsh feelings they had for each other after their split in 2013.
“I hated her,” Nelly said in the clip. Ashanti, echoed his feelings, responding with, “I hated him. I didn’t think that we would get back together.”
But in the end, Nelly conceded to his former flame, saying, “She got me y’all!”
The trailer for the show, which hits Peacock on June 26, offers a glimpse into what audiences can expect. In it, the couple will explore their relationship together over the years as well as how they are as parents.
Some of the issues that they’ll have to contend with are needing to be together at celebrity events, having two different parenting styles based on their varying levels of experiences with kids, and the age-old dilemma that couples often have about deciding where they want to live.
In May, Peacock shared an official press release to let everyone know what the show will cover.
"Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together...follows the electrifying journey of this beloved couple as they reignite their love, navigate the ups and downs of newlywed life, and the challenges of parenthood while juggling their thriving careers," it reads. "Can this unstoppable duo prove that their love truly can conquer all? A fun-filled exploration of love's second chances."
Last July, Nelly and Ashanti welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes. “Funny how life’s plans aren’t…always on time.. lol,” Ashanti wrote in a post announcing her kid’s birth. “I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for EVERYTHING motherhood brings!”
