Lizzo has addressed how her weight loss journey and transformation have affected her views on body positivity.

Speaking to Women’s Health UK, the singer explained that she’s happy with the way that she looks.

“I like how I look now,” she said. “I still think I’m big. I’m still wearing plus-size clothing. I have the same rolls. I got the same belly, the same thighs — I think I’m just a smaller version.”

Lizzo then gave her thoughts on what “body positivity” means.

“Body positivity has nothing to do with staying the same,” she said. “Body positivity is the radical act of daring to exist loudly and proudly in a society that told you you shouldn’t exist.”

In the event that she gains weight back, Lizzo revealed that she’s fine with that because her transformation is an ongoing process.

“Let me tell you this. It’s okay to release weight. It’s okay to gain weight after you’ve released weight, because what you’re not going to do is shame me if my body changes again and I get bigger,” she said.

Lizzo has spoken about her weight loss journey for a while now. Back in June, the singer admitted that she briefly used Ozempic as part of her weight loss journey, but she hasn’t relied on it long-term.

"Ozempic works because you eat less food," Lizzo said during an appearance on the Just Trish podcast. "It makes you feel full. So if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same shit."

In May, Lizzo explained why she refers to losing weight as a “weight release” during an appearance on The Breakfast Club.

"I think I had to start with cleaning out my mind and my energy and clearing out all of the negativity around me. And I feel like I released so much I was holding on," she explained.

"I do call it a weight release because [when] it started, I got snatched here first," she added, pointing to her forehead. "And then my body just followed suit."
