LeBron James has given Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic freestyle the ultimate cosign on Instagram.
On Sunday (May 31), the NBA legend posted clips from Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic performance on his Instagram Story. In one clip, Jay-Z can be heard rapping about someone’s “teeth tumbling out of their mouth,” and James reposted it with two steaming face emojis and a shushing face emoji.
However, James didn’t share the part of Jay-Z’s freestyle where he seemingly dissed Drake—which is interesting considering that Drizzy dissed James on his recently released album, Iceman.
Drake brought up the Lakers’ No. 23 on “Make Them Remember,” in which he rapped, “Please stop asking about 23 and me/I’m a real n***a, he’s not.”
Jay-Z didn’t hold back on shading Drake at the festival, rapping, “The jig is up/N***a I’m up 10/ Wrong chart, champ, you gotta look up again/N****s look up to HOV/I never looked up to them.”
On “Janice STFU” from Iceman, which dropped earlier this month, the Toronto artist threw shots at Jay-Z.
“You boys got big on my name, that’s big enough/We know how you OGs rocking already my n***a, the jig is up,” Drake rapped.
He wasn’t the only person to catch Jay-Z’s strays at the Roots Picnic. The artist formerly known as Kanye West got heat after he called Jay-Z and Beyonce’s twins, Rumi and Sir, the R-word on social media.
“You ever heard of wonder-kin? My children are some of them/Have you n***as have no shame/You really wanna get under my skin? I’ll really get under ya skin (stab)/ask Un how I’m playing,” Jay-Z rapped.
Jay-Z seemingly referenced Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty in his freestyle, as well, using the latter’s status as a registered sex offender to make his point.
"That lady back on that stuff, she sounds like she's in love with ‘em/Her Ken can't even… pick they kid… enough of them/A rapper can't be my opp, I got MAGA Republicans/Those shots came from the very top of the government, good luck with them,” he said.
