Kendrick Lamar finally released the song he previewed at the beginning of the “Not Like Us” video.
The full track, “squabble up,” is the second on his new album GNX that dropped without prior warning on Friday. It’s a shock for fans because Lamar has been a repeat offender when it comes to teasing songs that never drop.
“Squabble up” samples the ‘classic ‘80s techno tune, “When I Hear Music” by Debbie Deb. On it, Lamar calls out rappers for being fake—but he doesn’t name drop Drake, perhaps squashing potential beef.

GNX is full of other surprises. On “wacced out murals,” he addresses the fallout he’s received for his upcoming performance at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, which many think should have gone to Lil Wayne.
“I used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” Lamar rapped, later adding, “Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me, all these n****s agitated I’m just glad it’s on their faces.”
On the same song, Lamar called out Snoop Dogg for reposting Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” that used AI to recreate Snoop and 2pac’s voices. Lamar raps, "Snoop posted 'Taylor Made,' I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn't believe it, it was only right for me to let it go.”
Later on on the LP, Lamar gets honest about what happened to Black Hippy, the hip-hop supergroup that consisted of him, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and ScHoolboy Q.
In “heart pt. 6," Lamar reflected on the history of the group before being honest about what led to the project's downfall: him leaving Top Dawg Entertainment.
“Now it's about Kendrick, I wanna evolve, place my skillset as a black exec' / I jog my memory, knowing Black Hippy didn't work 'cause of me. Creatively, I moved on, with new concepts in reach,” he explained.
