Earl Sweatshirt has postponed the North American leg of his Home on the Range tour with MIKE after suffering an injury that will require surgery.
On Thursday (June 4), just days before the run was set to open in Riverside, California, venues posted notice of the postponement.
A statement from venue Bogarts laid out the situation plainly: "Earl was injured, he will need surgery and a period of recovery before he is cleared to perform again. As a result, his upcoming North American tour dates are being postponed. Earl is deeply sorry to move these shows and knows how much time, travel, and money fans put into being there."
The statement added that tickets will be honored for rescheduled dates, which will be announced once confirmed. Fans unable to attend the new dates can request refunds at their point of purchase.
The injury appears to be the same one that kept Earl off the stage at SXSW London last week, where organizers cited an accident when announcing his withdrawal from the festival. MIKE performed in his place at that event.
"We're very sorry to share that Earl Sweatshirt has met with an accident and is no longer able to perform at SXSW London," the event said in a statement at the time.
The European leg of the Home on the Range tour is still on, according to a rep for the rapper. That tour runs from August through September, with stops in the UK, Ireland, France, Poland and the Netherlands. Surf Gang member Harrison opens most of those shows, with MIKE also headlining select European dates solo alongside his Band of the Century.
Earl and MIKE launched the tour in support of their double LP Pompeii // Utility that came out in April.
Despite the postponement news, Earl has remained active creatively: he appears on "Belladonna," an Alchemist-produced cut from Navy Blue's new LP Sir Render, out this week on Freedom Sounds. He also co-produced the track "officeloop with t + e" on Harrison's debut solo mixtape, Taking a walk & calling a car home.
