Benzino got emotional during a recent podcast appearance when speaking about his fractured relationship with his daughter, Coi Leray.

Benzino opened up about their differences and arguments during an interview with Carlos King for his show Reality With the King. The segment starts about 23 minutes into the video below.

“I didn’t know how to handle this on the internet,” Benzino said of their differences, which became extremely public when Leray rapped about how her father "let me down" on her 2021 song "No More Parties." “I didn’t see this coming, so I didn’t know how to handle that. There was no manual I could look in or ask ChatGPT. My feelings were hurt.”

Fighting back tears, Benzino spoke on how he felt when he heard the track.

“I never knew she felt that way about me,” he said. “Because I know for a fact that anything that I did was out of love. Anything I didn’t do right was me not knowing.”

Speaking about Leray giving birth to her daughter, Miyoko, Benzino explained that he hasn’t seen his granddaughter in person yet.

“She just had a baby,” he said of Coi. “I haven’t seen her. I get the pictures when they come out on The Shade Room just like everybody else. I wish it would stop and go back to normal again.”

Last May, Leray dropped the bombshell that she had no relationship with her father anymore.

"I want everybody to know I want nothing to do with anything my father has going on," Leray wrote on X at the time. "I haven’t spoken to him in over a year and I don’t condone or respect any of them interviews he got going on. I don’t respect his decisions and I really want nothing to do with him please dont [sic] even think of me when you see him."

"Sharing the same DNA and blood DOESN’T make us FAMILY . Loyalty , boundaries , respect , teaching , guidance , love , patience , encouragement MAKES US FAMILY,” she added.

In 2023, Leray claimed that Benzino was “envious” of her success in an interview with Angie Martinez, prompting her father to respond on Instagram with, “How tf can be envious towards someone I RAISED, NUTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED AND LOVE VERY DEARLY??? This industry and the internet have completely messed up the minds of this young generation."
