ComplexCon headliner Yeat credits his “Dog House” collaborator Drake with teaching him “how to operate at a higher level.”

In a conversation with Eric Skelton for Complex, available in full here, the A Dangerous Lyfë artist was asked to name mentors who have offered him guidance along his path to stardom, prompting a mention of Drake associate Future the Prince. From there, Yeat reflected on how first popping up in a photo with the 6 god “definitely changed things” for him back in 2021.

“I was getting recognition from one of the biggest artists in the world, if not the biggest,” Yeat told Complex. “It changed things for everybody—for my fans and for outsiders. They're like, ‘Who the fuck is this kid?’ It really put an eye on what I was doing, and we didn't end up dropping a song until however many years later, but we always stayed close through that.”

As Yeat sees it, Drake, whom he considers “my brother,” is simply “really good at making really good music,” a description exhibited by his catalog of “unlimited hits.” He also pointed to his in-studio process, as well as his approach to touring, as instrumental in what he’s been able to glean from the Iceman rapper during their time together.

“I’ve learned how to operate at a higher level, just from being around him and peeping the way he moves,” Yeat added. “Watching him do these shows and the way it's all set up, it's given me a lot of good insight on how you take things to the next level.”
