Tyler, the Creator on What He'd Do as POTUS: 'Take Podcast Mics Away'

To be fair, the mics probably had it coming.

The overwhelming volume of podcasts being launched or continued or excerpted at any given moment could fairly easily be argued as one of modern life’s most persistent annoyances. Tyler, The Creator certainly seems to agree.

In a newly published Billboard cover story conversation with Rembert Browne, Tyler mentioned podcasts when he shared what would be his first order of business in a purely hypothetical Tyler-becomes-POTUS scenario.

“If I was president, the first thing I would do is take podcast mics away from n***as,” Tyler said in the new interview, which was accompanied by photos from Luis "Panch" Perez.

As with any and all Tyler interviews, this one is best enjoyed in its full, intended context. Notably, the latest Tyler chat includes a wealth of insights from the man who made what is undeniably one of the best (and most excitingly presented) albums of 2024.

Chromakopia, featuring the track ”Sticky” that's unlike anything else released this year, recently made its expected appearance on Complex’s ranking of 2024’s strongest releases, landing high in the top five alongside projects from Kendrick Lamar and Doechii.

Starting next February, Tyler will take Chromakopia on the road, and he’s bringing Lil Yachty and Paris Texas along for the ride. The 89-date run follows 2022’s Call Me If You Get Lost Tour in support of the Grammy-winning album of the same name.
