Three 6 Mafia founding member DJ Paul and recent collaborator Trippie Redd are now caught up in a lawsuit together.

Per a report filed by TMZ on Wednesday, the two's 2019 collab "Death" is alleged to have sampled the 1997 Three 6 track "Hit a Muthafucka" without permission, which wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that—at least according to On the Strength Records' Reginald Boyland's accusations—Paul no longer owns the rights.

Boyland claims in the lawsuit that he obtained the rights via a 2015 settlement with Paul stemming from a suit alleging that "Hit a Muthafucka" had utilized uncleared elements from his own "Pimps in the House."

According to the latest report, Boyland told both Paul and Trippie that he believed he was owed a portion of "Death" profits. That request, however, reportedly received "no response" from either party. Now, Boyland is suing for copyright infringement and requesting a cut of the track's profits.

"Death" appeared on Trippie Redd's 2019 album A Love Letter to You 4 and featured a guest appearance by DaBaby. The track, produced by DJ Paul and TWhy Xclusive, served as the second single from the 21-track album.

Last month, Three 6 Mafia announced a run of reunion show dates including stops in New Orleans, Denver, and more.

"We want everyone to come and be a part of history," Paul told Billboard of the decision to head out on a mini-tour touting the group's legacy. "We have been one of the most hits makin' [and] most influential groups of all times!"
