The Game Addresses Kanye West’s Instagram Suspension, Argues Ye Is ‘Speaking His Truth’

The Game has addressed the Instagram suspension of the artist formerly known as Kanye West, both defending his “Eazy” collaborator and pointing to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as something he feels the social media platform should be focused on instead.

As previously reported, Ye was hit with a temporary (i.e. 24-hour) suspension on Wednesday, with TMZ being the first to reveal that IG and Facebook’s parent company Meta had taken action due to violations of site policies regarding “hate speech, harassment, and bullying.”

Addressing this decision in a post shared Wednesday evening, Game argued that IG was “funny as hell” for implementing such policies. He also shared a screenshot showing the #FreeYe hashtag.

“It’s a whole war going on in Ukraine & hate posts surrounding it that add fuel to the fire + Africans being violated & barred from crossing borders to safety with racists comments/content attached…. and y’all zero’d in on Ye’s posts about the protection of his children, his fatherhood & him speaking his truth in defense to the c*****y displayed by other verified users on this app that further complicate his situation in regards to his family,” Game also said in the caption of his post.

Ye’s suspension was preceded by an IG post targeting Trevor Noah, who this week dedicated a portion of a new Daily Show episode to the ongoing Ye x Kim Kardashian x Pete Davidson controversy. Just before the suspension, Noah had offered a lengthy response to the post, notably including several references to lyrics from Ye’s catalog.

“You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this,” Noah said.

As for Game, he’s not the only Ye collaborator to have shared a public statement on the IG suspension. French Montana took to Twitter to share his take, remarking that Ye’s “about to make his own social media platform.”
