6ix9ine has reportedly been relocated to a federal facility known for housing "neutral inmates."

That's the latest update from TMZ's sources, who said Thursday that 6ix9ine had been transferred to a unit where "witnesses who cooperate with the feds" are typically placed. The transfer reportedly went down late Wednesday, with attorney Lance Lazzaro saying only that it was made due to matters of security.

6ix9ine, as first reported earlier this week, was originally being held in general population at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. "This criminal enterprise has no business in our city, and we will continue to work with our partners to ensure that Nine Trey crew members, including the more well-known Tekashi 6ix9ine, are in a place where they cannot inflict further violence on our communities," Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Angel M. Melendez said when announcing 6ix9ine’s arrest on racketeering and firearms charges.

In the days since the arrest, Lazzaro has argued that his client 6ix9ine is merely an "an entertainer who portrays a 'gangster image' to promote his music." DUMMY BOY, 6ix9ine's new album that was originally set to drop Friday, has been postponed until further notice.

As for the possible sentence, former LAPD lieutenant Adam Bercovici explained to Complex earlier this week that the most likely scenario here is that some deals are made. "That's kind of what law enforcement counts on, that everybody rats everybody out," Bercovici said. "That's what we hope."

6ix9ine is facing a mandatory minimum of 32 years.
