Last month, one of Tay-K's alleged accomplices in the home robbery and murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker was hit with a 20-year prison sentence. Now, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Tay-K's request for bond has been denied by a state district judge.
State District Judge Wayne Salvant said that Tay-K, who was 16 when he was allegedly involved with the fatal July 2016 shooting of Walker and will be tried as an adult, was welcome to have his defense team appeal the decision. "I believe if you are fortunate enough to have a bond, that you are compelled to follow the law," Salvant said. "And if you don't follow the law and it's shown that you're not following the law, then you're not entitled to another bond. I don't care how old you are."
Salvant also referenced Tay-K's hit "The Race," which was recently featured on FX's Atlanta. "It's my understanding that people throughout this country have Free Tay-K signs up or 'go-to' funds to fund his defense and this court has a problem with that," he said.
Tay-K has also been charged in connection with a fatal shooting at a Chick-fil-a restaurant in San Antonio and is also alleged to have been involved with the robbery of a 65-year-old man in Arlington.
Rumors of Tay-K's release from jail started circulating in December, around the same time as reports of his deal with the 88 Classic label but were promptly squashed by his manager.
