Premiere: Spice Releases Video for New Song “God a Bless Me”

Spice's first new track of 2023, "God a Bless Me," receives the video treatment from co-director BlingBlang. The song follows last year's 'Emancipated' project.

Spice is back with her first new song of 2023.

On Friday, Spice not only rolled out “God a Bless Me,” but she also premiered the track’s official video co-directed by BlingBlang.

“I died October 2022 and God literally gave me a second chance at life, so this pregnancy signifies my rebirth,” Spice said in a statement to Complex about the track and video’s deep personal significance. “The release of this song is called ‘God a Bless Me’ because it’s really a blessing what I overcame and I’m so grateful to God to still be alive.”

As longtime Complex readers will note, Friday’s video rollout arrives just under a decade after the premiere of Spice’s So Mi Like It EP, which notably arrived before the singer’s eventual Grammy nomination and star-solidifying turn in Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Last year, Spice gave fans her sophomore album Emancipated, released through her own Spice Official Entertainment label. As Spice later explained to fans in an Instagram update, she was particularly proud of the project due to each track’s individual viability as a potential single. At the time, Spice said, this left her “confused on which one to really push or promote the most.”
