Rimas Entertainment, the label behind Bad Bunny’s latest chart-topping album, shared massive news with the world on Thursday.
The independent label has acquired what’s been described as “a significant stake” in Dale Play Records, a label specializing in Spanish-language releases. In a statement, Rimas Entertainment CEO Noah Assad explained how this deal, itself an extension of the two labels’ proven collaborative strengths, marks a continuation of the larger Rimas mission.
"From day one, our mission has been to support and develop artists with authenticity and respect for their identity,” Assad said. “With Federico and Dale Play, we've built a relationship founded on trust and mutual admiration. This alliance will allow us to break new boundaries and create opportunities for our artists and teams.”
The deal marks a partnership between Rimas, Dale Play, and Sony Music Entertainment. Federico Lauria, notably, will remain in his role as Dale Play CEO, while Rimas will expand its roster of office locations. For Lauria, the larger partnership is rooted in a years-long friendship with Afo Verde, who serves as chairman and CEO of Sony Music’s Latin America, Spain, and Portugal operations.
“Afo and I have had a long-standing friendship for many years, united by a mission to elevate Latin music to the highest level,” Lauria said of the deal. “This partnership reflects a journey we have been on for many years with Noah, Jomy, and the RIMAS team. We share the same vision and values, driven by a passion and a dream to take Spanish-language music and culture to the world."
For those unfamiliar, the Rimas roster is an impressive one. Bad Bunny is joined among the label’s current lineup by Arcángel, Cris MJ, Eladio Carrión, and more. Dale Play, meanwhile, boasts a similarly impressive team of artists, Bizarrap and Nicki Nicole among them. It’s clear that, with this new deal in place, both Rimas and Dale Play are aiming to bring even more new talent into the fold. In the words of Rimas president Jonathan "Jomy" Miranda, the partnership allows both entities to “have ears in more corners of the world.”
