Rihanna, whose most recent studio album turned 10 back in January, remains in a playful state of mind amid continued inquiries as to when, exactly, fans can expect a follow-up.
This time, the inquiring party is Whitney Rose of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, whose RiRi fandom is well-documented.
“I’m just sitting here getting some work done, feeling kind of sad and sorry for myself because I just realized that we still haven’t had any new music from Rihanna,” Rose said in a recent video shared to Instagram. “My favorite, my girl, my queen. Still no new music. I’m feeling really sorry for myself because I just listened to her entire playlist, and I want more.”
Rihanna was quick to catch wind of the video, joking “I feel ATTACKED!!!!” when resharing it to her own IG on Wednesday (May 27).
The nine-time Grammy winner, of course, has faced no shortage of these kinds of comments over the years. Billie Eilish, for example, brought up the near-mythical R9, as the album has been nicknamed by fans, in an interview with ELLE last month.
“If Rihanna ever fucking makes R9, then I'm excited for that,” she said at the time.
Anti, released in January 2016, is, undoubtedly, a tough act to follow. The album has been widely regarded as the arguable gem of Rihanna’s catalog over the past decade, ultimately leading to its ranking at No. 55 on Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums list in 2024.
