Rihanna is commemorating Barbados’s fourth year as a republic by sharing a collection of family photos.
On Sunday (Nov. 30), Barbados, where the Anti singer was born, marked its Independence Day with a parade and the installation of the country’s second president, Jeffrey Bostic. In a post celebrating the occasion, Rihanna shared a number of photos of herself in her home country, including shots with ASAP Rocky and the always fashion-forward couple’s children.
“Congratulations to Barbados, MY HOME, on our 59th year of Independence and our 4th year as a Republic!” Rihanna, recently ranked by Complex as the No. 3 best-dressed celebrity of the 21st century, wrote when sharing the photos. “Today also marks the installation of our 2nd President, His Excellency Lieutenant Colonel The Most Honorable Jeffrey Bostic , who alongside our Honorable Prime Minister Mia Mottley will continue to lead Barbados with excellence Barbados I LOVE YOU!!!!”
Back in 2021, Rihanna was on hand for a ceremony in Bridgetown during which Barbados formally launched its new chapter as a republic. During the ceremony, the nine-time Grammy winner was honored with a National Hero distinction from the country, with Prime Minister Mia Mottley praising her for “commanding the imagination of the world” through her art.
“Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty has given service to Barbados which has been exemplified by visionary and pioneering leadership, extraordinary achievement, and the attainment of the highest excellence that is redounded to the honor of Barbados,” Mottley said at the time, as seen here.
Rihanna and Rocky welcomed their third child together, Rocki, in September. In a subsequent interview with Complex’s Mike DeStefano, Rocky cited his and Rihanna’s daughter as his “favorite thing” he’s created this year.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned Anti, which as of this writing remains Rihanna’s most recent studio album, came in at No. 4 on Complex’s ranking of the 50 best albums of the 21st century. Topping the list, available in full here, is the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s Rihanna-featuring My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
