Rick Ross sees a great deal of similarities between himself and the late Elvis Presley.
Recently, the “Champagne Moments” artist embarked on a trip to Graceland, the nearly 14-acre Memphis estate where Presley once lived. For more than four decades, the space has been open to the public as a museum, with varying levels of access offered at different price points.
Naturally, Rozay documented key moments from his own experience of exploring the property, spurring some reflection on how he and the King’s lives paralleled each other.
“Elvis Presley’s home, Graceland, is behind me,” Ross said in one clip showing him outside the mansion. “I just went on a tour throughout the crib. Very enlightening. Elvis was a legend, an icon.”
Both Ross and Presley were born in Mississippi. Furthermore, like Elvis, Rozay has given his own home space its own name with a similar suffix.
“As we all can see, me and Elvis had a lot of things in common,” Ross said when showing the two planes on display at the property, the Lisa Marie and the Hound Dog. “His ranch is Graceland, mine is Promiseland. I love the planes. I love he was a hustler. He was a man amongst the people. I’m doing something different today.”
This isn’t the first time Ross has let fans know about his affinity for Elvis. Just over a decade ago, he rolled out his “Elvis Presley Blvd” track, which takes its name from the street on which Graceland is located.
Next month, Rozay will hit the Atlanta Symphony Hall to perform highlights from his catalog while accompanied by a live orchestra. Tickets for the unique experience, backed by the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, are now on sale.
