Quavo on Upcoming Solo Project: 'I Got Too Much Music'

The Migos era is far from over. In a new interview, one-time New National Anthem offerer Quavo details his solo work and how the Atlanta trio plans to keep dominating the game.

Finally, a full-blown Quavo solo album is damn near upon us.

In a new cover profile for Hypebeast, the ubiquitous Migos member detailed how he plans to continue down a path he predicts will ensure his legacy includes a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Chuck Berry, Patti Smith, Green Day, Nirvana, and more.

"We've always had music stocked up, each of us on our own," he said when asked about solo projects from himself, Takeoff, and Offset. "That's how we always had worked, the previous Migos records. We always go work on them first and then one person would be on the song and then we just make each other do homework. So now it's just like we completing our own songs."

For Quavo's own project—presumably still titled project Quavo Huncho and expected before the end of the monthhe wasn't even consciously aware of when sessions for a non-Migos album began. "It was just about me having all these features out and everybody assuming that I was gonna do, like, a solo career," he said, noting there was no calculation involved with the move. "I got too much music. I got to channel it somewhere. So dropping the solo project is a good way to do it." One song that may end up on the project, Quavo added, is the Travis Scott-featuring "Rerun."

However, for the predictable headlines claiming that Quavo's solo project—or, for that matter, any Migos member's extracurricular projects—is causing tension in the group, the one-time New National Anthem offerer is squashing the nonsense. "We brothers, we talk about everything," Quavo said. "So if I got [to] answer by dropping a solo project and we can do it."

Elsewhere, Quavo talks about keeping it humble at McDonald's, playing basketball with Drake and La Flame, the possibility of more Huncho Jack entries, and more. Read Hypebeast's full piece here.
