Pooh Shiesty has been arrested in Texas, reportedly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and accused of being involved in an alleged robbery targeting Gucci Mane.
On Thursday (April 2), TMZ was first to say that Shiesty was arrested, this after a home linked to him was reported to have been searched by authorities. The publication also said on Thursday that Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Denell Williams Sr., had been arrested in Tennessee.
A Lontrell Denell Williams is listed as having been taken into custody in the Memphis area on Wednesday (April 1), per online records viewed by Complex. As of this writing, no charge information was listed.
Shiesty, who recently appeared on Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, was released from prison in 2025 after serving three years in connection with his federal conspiracy to possess a firearm guilty plea.
“First, on July 7, 2020, in Memphis, Tennessee, [Lontrell Denell Williams Jr., a.k.a. Pooh Shiesty] was inside a car when an occupant of the car discharged a firearm at a gas station,” prosecutors said when announcing the 2022 plea. “Second, on October 9, 2020, in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, Williams, Jr. and his co-conspirators arrived at a meeting to acquire marijuana, codeine, and sneakers. During this meeting, members of Williams’ group brandished firearms and assaulted two victims. Following the assault, the group departed the scene with the victims’ marijuana, codeine, and sneakers. Third, on May 30, 2021, Williams, Jr. assaulted a victim with a firearm at a Miami strip club.”
Shiesty commemorated his 2025 release with the release of “FDO” that December. The track was later ranked by Complex as one of the 20 best entries in the long-running “First Day Out” tradition. See here for a closer look at how “FDO” ultimately emerged as 2026’s first big rap hit.
The circumstances of Shiesty’s newly revealed arrest weren’t immediately clear. However, not long after initial info surfaced, it was reported by 12News in Texas that the Department of Justice had accused him of being involved with an alleged robbery and kidnapping effort targeting Gucci Mane in Dallas. Of nine total suspects, including Shiesty and Big30, eight are said to have been arrested on Wednesday. Shiesty’s father, meanwhile, is accused of having aided in the planning and carrying out of the alleged crime.
In 2020, Shiesty, notably, joined the roster of Gucci’s 1017 label. The aforementioned “FDO” carries the label’s banner. Thursday’s reports include claims suggesting that the alleged targeting of Gucci was related to an apparent contract dispute.
Complex has reached out to FBI and DOJ reps for comment. This story may be updated.
At a press conference on Thursday, Ryan R. Raybould, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, said that the accused had “kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint” the alleged victims. Raybould also confirmed that Shiesty and his father were among those arrested.
According to Raybould, the incident in question occurred in January of this year.
“As alleged, [Shiesty] produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint,” Raybould said when discussing what he described as a “coordinated, armed takeover” of a music studio in Dallas.
