The new video for Voices of Fire’s Pharrell-featuring track “THE ONE,” according to Skateboard P himself, is “loud” enough to be heard on mute.
The track serves as the opener to the Virginia-based gospel choir’s OPHANIM album, which also counts guest features from John Legend and Quavo, among others. In the official video, unveiled on Monday (June 8), Pharrell is seen skating into the performance before taking the podium to deliver his verse.
“This masterful video of our new release ‘THE ONE’ is a heavenly view of a multi-generational, rhythmic, melodic declaration, that Jesus doesn’t compare to any other,” Bishop Ezekiel Williams, founder of Voices of Fire, said in a statement shared with Complex. “He is the One! Feel the energy, as the Spirit and Voices of Fire set hearts ablaze.’
Pharrell, meanwhile, underscored what he sees as the message of connection at the heart of the track.
“You could watch this on mute and it would still be loud,” he said in a statement to Complex. “That’s what happens when the energy is real. Faith looks different for everybody, but connection is something we all recognize.”
Watch the video for “THE ONE” up top. OPHANIM is out now on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, et al. Pharrell is credited as the executive producer on the project, as well as a co-writer.
The 14-time Grammy winner previously linked up with Voices of Fire for “JOY (Unspeakable),” released in 2023. Revisit that track here. The group also appeared on Clipse’s universally acclaimed (and Pharrell-produced) Let God Sort Em Out album last year.
