UPDATED 5:10 p.m. ET: Migos have released a statement on the controversy surrounding their words about Makonnen.

"We are all fan's of Makonnens music and we wish he didn't feel like he ever had to hide himself," the group shared on Twitter. "We feel the world is fucked up that people feel like they have to hide and we're asked to comment on someone's sexuality."

"We have no problem with anyone's sexual preference," they added. "We love all people, gay or straight and we apologize if we offended anyone."

Just as the world was being introduced to the full version of Migos' snack jingle "Dab of Ranch," Rolling Stonepublished a feature on the Billboard toppers' ongoing wave of success. When discussing how proud they are of the "diversity"of Atlanta, the group addressed the recent coming out of fellow Georgia mainstay iLoveMakonnen with some perplexing comments.

"They supported him?" Quavo asked Rolling Stone's Jonah Weiner, who pointed out the awesome wave of support Makonnen received after coming out as gay on Twitter last month. Offset added: "That's because the world is fucked up." Quavo also suggested that Makonnen's coming out somehow contradicts with the subject matter of his music. "That's wack, bro," he said. Peep the full exchange, straight from the feature, below:

Weiner also mentions an incident at Quality Control studios during the interview involving a "woman with bright-blond hair and a regal bearing." According to Weiner, an argument between the woman and Quavo is eventually taken outside:

"Thank you for letting me be myself," Makonnen wrote on Instagram last month after telling fans it was "time I've come out." Fans and artists alike voiced their support for Makonnen, retweeting his coming out statement nearly 14,000 times:
