Makonnen is giving the middle finger to love with a new song produced by Mike Will Made-It and Travis Barker. The aptly titled "Love" features Rae Sremmurd and is now available for well-hydrated listening sessions on iTunes/Apple Music and Spotify. You can also see the music video above.
Makonnen last appeared on Lil B's Black Ken highlight "Global." Though Makonnen hasn't released a full-length studio album since iLoveMakonnen 2 in 2015, the Portland-based water enthusiast dropped a pair of mixtapes—Drink More Water 6 and Red Trap Dragon—in 2016, as well as the one-off single "Side to Side."
In an expansive, must-read interview with Fader back in March, Makonnen opened up about how his life has changed since relocating to PDX. "I needed to go somewhere where I don't know nobody else," he explained. "And I feel like I was looking into Oregon like, Damn, what's that — whole bunch of woods out there — coyotes and bears?! Shit and they had to tear down all these woods. That's real man shit!"
Judging by Makonnen's recent Instagram activity, we should probably expect more new music—possibly something with Lil Peep—in the near future:
