There are "no official plans" for the release of Mac Miller and Madlib's collaborative MacLib project.

That's the word, according to an update to Madlib's website, which—as spotted by Fader Tuesday—simultaneously confirmed the project to be an EP.

"We’ve been getting a lot of questions about a collaborative album that Madlib and Mac Miller supposedly created. Here's the real story," the message reads. "What exists is what the two had originally intended—an EP's worth of music that was supposed to be the start of something. The end point wasn't planned out or even discussed. The idea was to create for creation's sake." The message goes on to further explain the creative process behind the sessions, which date as far back as early 2015.

"And that name, MacLib?" the message says. "Like Jaylib, it was just in the metadata of one of the files he sent over. 'MacLib—Number 4' it read. The song still doesn’t have an official title, and there are no official plans to release the EP."

Over the weekend, Madlib previewed an unreleased Mac Miller and Thundercat collab during a DJ set in San Diego.

Miller's 2016 Anderson .Paak collab "Dang!" was played to the crowd at the Times Union Center in Albany Monday night before Ariana Grande took the stage to kick off her 80-date Sweetener World Tour.
