Lil Wayne Responds to Rick Ross' "Idols Become Rivals" Message: 'I Needed That'

Lil Wayne responds to Rick Ross' "Idols Become Rivals" message, saying it gave him "motivation."

Lil Wayne has responded to Rick Ross' message of support ahead of the release of "Idols Become Rivals," a Birdman diss track from Ross' new album Rather You Than Me. After the track surfaced Thursday through its international release, Ross told Wayne on Instagram "the streets need you" and said that "being a boss" meant having the courage to say what others are "scared" to say:

In a tweet Thursday afternoon, Wayne said Ross' message "hit me in the heart" and gave him the motivation he needed:

On the Black Metaphor-produced track in question, Ross—after a spoken word intro from Chris Rock—details how he went from admiring Birdman to being disappointed by his behind-the-scenes actions. "Catholic record label n***** getting raped boy, Birdman's a priest," Ross raps at one point in the track.

Rather You Than Me hits the U.S. this Friday.
