Lil Pump would like to see Justin Bieber's "Yummy" hit the 1 billion views mark on YouTube.
Pump, whose most recent album Harverd Dropout arrived last February, took his Bieber appreciation to Instagram over the weekend by sharing a clip of the single's official music video. In the caption, Pump referred to Bieber as his "big bro" and urged his followers to contribute a watch. "MY BIG BRO JUST DROPPED GO GET THIS TO 1 BIL!" Pump wrote to his fans.
Pump's show of support, notably, comes in the wake of last week's headlines-driven controversy surrounding the wide variety of promo methods utilized in the "Yummy" campaign. As Dani Deahl explained in a Verge piece on the "Yummy" criticism, it wasn't the fact that Bieber was calling on his fans to stream his new song. That's required and expected. Instead, the criticism was aimed at Bieber seemingly sharing (and later deleting) a fan-made IG post that encouraged the use of a VPN and advised listeners to keep the song rolling while they snoozed.
Bieber's top-of-the-chart competition has been Roddy Ricch, whose "The Box" was projected to take the No. 1 spot. Over the weekend, Ricch mentioned Bieber's "Yummy" via a quick tweeted shout-out:
