Kodak Black is aiming to get a lighter sentence, arguing that he's due to get "several months" taken off his 46-month stint after being inaccurately labeled a prior convicted felon.
Attorney Bradford Cohen told TMZ, per a report released Tuesday, that he and his team will soon be filing legal documents appealing the sentence in Kodak's gun case. Cohen explained that Kodak, by his assessment, should not have been classified as a prior convicted felon during sentencing. According to Cohen, the associated previous guilty pleas did not lead to convictions thanks to the terms of each agreement.
The ultimate goal, at least according to Tuesday's report, is for Kodak’s legal team to secure a late 2021 release instead of the previously reported 2022. As things currently stand, Kodak is said to be looking at a federal prison stint in Kentucky. Last month, it was reported that his targeted release date was "on or about" Aug. 14, 2022.
Earlier that same month, Kodak's IG shared a statement from the Dying to Live artist in which he alleged a conspiracy at the Miami facility he was being held in at the time. According to Kodak, those in charge were "strategically killing me slowly" and had "humiliated [me] over and over again."
