Ye is, according to a new report, now a “named suspect” in connection with an alleged misdemeanor battery incident in the Downtown Los Angeles area.
Per TMZ, who cited law enforcement sources in their initial report on Thursday, the artist formerly known as Kanye West was first involved in a verbal disagreement near the Soho Warehouse club in DTLA. The argument is alleged to have eventually grown into a physical incident, with the report noting that Ye is alleged to have “pushed someone.” It was later claimed that he punched someone who wanted an autograph.
In a short video clip included in the TMZ report, Ye is seen asking someone “Did y’all say that or not?” The clip was reportedly captured Wednesday night/early Thursday.
Complex has reached out to a rep for Ye for comment, as well as to the Los Angeles Police Department. Later on Thursday, an LAPD rep shared the following:
Another video was shared by TMZ which allegedly shows moments after the man was punched, who can be seen laid out on the ground. Kanye can be heard yelling at someone who describes themselves as “family” to “get away from me!” TMZ reports the person was punched in the head and in the neck, and that “his head struck the ground hard.”
