Joe Budden on Why J. Cole Should Diss Ye After Walking Back Kendrick Response: 'The Reprieve That He Needs'

In Ye's recently released "Like That" remix, Cole's music is proposed as the ideal soundtrack to "get the p*ssy dry."

J. Cole should consider dissing Ye if he wants people to move on from that whole Kendrick Lamar thing, at least according to Joe Budden.

As likely no one needs reminding, Cole initially responded to Kendrick’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” with his own “7 Minute Drill,” although he quickly walked back the track’s sentiments and ultimately removed it from streaming.

“Y’all love Kendrick Lamar, correct?” Cole told fans at Dreamville Fest in North Carolina earlier this month. “As do I. So I just wanna come up here and publicly be like bruh, that was the lamest goofiest shit, and I say all that to say it made me feel like 10 years ago when I was moving incorrectly, and I pray that god will line me back up on my purpose and my path.”

Fast forward to this week, and Ye has now delivered a “Like That” remix wherein he boasted that he “can’t even think of a Drake line” and asserted that playing Cole’s music was a surefire way to “get the pussy dry.”

On a recent episode of his podcast, Budden, who previously said that he gets his Drake intel from his “love of escorts,” said that Cole’s “free parking” moment has now arrived.

“I told y’all that J. Cole was gon’ have to find somebody to kick his ass and it couldn’t be nobody chump and small,” Budden said, as seen in the clip above. “There is no better person than Kanye, the n***a that you been had smoke with, the n***a that been had smoke with your OG HOV, who’s now on a record saying some shit about you. I know that you’re home with the sage. You’re saging yourself. I know that this beef shit is not in your spirit but if you were to wake up one day in a different mood, now’s the time. Kill him. Kill him. Make an example out of this non-rapping n***a. It’ll be easy too.”

In fact, Budden predicted, the benefits of taking this approach would be wide-ranging for Cole (who previously spurred Ye-focused talk with “False Prophets” in 2016) and his fans.

“I think that’s the reprieve that he needs,” Budden added. “I think that solves all J. Cole’s problems.”

Ye himself previously responded to Cole’s decision to walk back his Kendrick diss, saying in his recently released The Download conversation with Justin Laboy, simply, “Fuck all that pussy shit.”
