Here's What to Expect From Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott's 'Black Panther' Collab

Expect flames, says producer Cardo.

As expected, the Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott collab that calls Black Panther: The Album home is a certified "banger." That's the exact description given by producer Cardo in a recent interview, during which he also praised the "evil genius" vibes of Lamar's studio sessions.

"That record is a banger," Cardo said when asked about "Big Shot" by Digital Trends Wednesday. "It's hard to describe. It's one of those records that as soon as you hear it in the club you're like, 'Oh shit. This is going up.' It got that bounce to it. Of course [Kendrick Lamar] and Travis coming in and doing what they have to do. It's for the clubs. It's for you to have a good time. It's for you to bounce around. It's fire."

The beat itself was actually finished back in October. When Cardo sent it over to Lamar, his response was damn near immediate. "Next thing I know, he hit me back the same day with a rough of the idea," Cardo said.

Asked to name the recording sessions he's been a part of that have shaped his production style, Cardo again mentioned Lamar. "Being around Kendrick, he's like an evil genius," he said. "I don't want to say evil genius, but that n***a just knows what he wants to do. He comes in the studio and knows exactly where he wants to go. He doesn't even need an atlas map."

The full Black Panther album—which also features 2 Chainz, Vince Staples, and James Blake—drops alongside the film of the same name this Friday. Earlier this week, Lamar and SZA dropped the official video for lead single "All the Stars."
