Sony Music Global was the apparent victim of a hack Monday morning. The Twitter account for Sony's music division falsely tweeted that Britney Spears had died at the age of 35, the Verge reported. The tweet was also shared by the official Bob Dylan account before being removed by both accounts:

A rep for Spears quickly confirmed that the pop legend is still alive and well. "It appears @SonyMusicGlobal erroneously tweeted her death," CNN's Anne Claire Stapleton said Monday morning. "Sony rep says no comment."

OurMine, a group "well known for breaking into accounts like these," previously seemed to briefly attain control of multiple high-profile social media accounts earlier this year. According to the Verge, OurMine's 2016 takeovers have included the following:

  • Google CEO Sundar Pichai
  • Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg
  • Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey
  • BuzzFeed

Additionally, the group reportedly accessed multiple official Twitter accounts associated with Marvel and Netflix earlier this month. "Hey, it's OurMine," the hacked tweets read. "Don't worry we are just testing your security, contact us to help you with your security [sic]."

At the time of publication, Sony Music Global and reps for Dylan had yet to release an official statement regarding the apparent hack.
