G-Eazy and Demi Lovato Relive Headlines in Video for New Song “Breakdown”

The new video, directed by Daniel CZ, opens with the two singers in a side-by-side split screen before a slew of headlines fills the screen.

In the video for their new collab track “Breakdown,” G-Eazy and Demi Lovato immerse themselves in a swirl of self-referential headlines.

The video, directed by Daniel CZ with cinematography by Darren Miller, opens with a split-screen shot of the two artists. The shot is quickly filed with an escalating downpour of headlines, “Demi Lovato Talks About Sobriety and Life After Overdose” and “G-Eazy Is Embarrassed and Apologetic” among them.

The song itself has been the subject of social media-housed teasing since August and is set to appear on G-Eazy’s new album These Things Happen Too, out Sept. 24. Up top, catch the new video.

Earlier this week, G-Eazy—per the New York Daily News—was arrested for an alleged fight with two other men. He was reportedly charged with assault for the incident, which is said to have occurred in the Boom Boom Room at the Standard.

Lovato recently joined Elton John in addressing DaBaby’s homophobic comments and amplification of HIV misinformation. Later this month, Lovato’s UAPs-focused series Unidentified With Demi Lovato will premiere on Peacock.

“I had this crazy experience that happened to me in Joshua Tree,” they said in a recently released trailer for the four-part series. “It was this bright light that moved in these weird ways that a plane wouldn’t move.” Lovato added that, for them, the goal is to “find out what really happened.”
