Dvsn Bring 'Sept. 5th' and 'Morning After' Standouts to NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Series

The Canadian duo brings a full band to NPR HQ to run through three of their strongest tracks.

Fresh off dropping that excellent Boygenius episode, NPR did it again Monday with their latest Tiny Desk entry, this time featuring Dvsn.

Backed by a trio of backup singers and a four-piece band, Daniel Daley hit up NPR studios to run through Sept. 5th cut "Too Deep" and Morning After tracks "Body Smile" and "Mood." Per notes on the intimate performance from show producer Sidney Madden, Daley's creative partner Nineteen85 was in the audience on "humble maestro" duty.

Back in September, the duo—who made their introduction to the world via OVO Sound Radio—kicked off their multi-part Since October documentary series with an eight-minute inaugural episode. "We all grew up kind of figuring out whether or not anybody from the city would ever be able to sort of get on or get in the game," Noah '40' Shebib, OVO co-founder, said in the episode of their desire to bring others into the fold. "After me and Drake kind of, like, kicked down that door we felt an obligation to continue to bring more people through it."

The 13-track Morning After arrived just over a year ago via OVO and Warner Bros., armed with the singles "Don't Choose" and the NPR-performed "Mood."

In a chat with Billboard earlier this year, Nineteen85 predicted only "bigger and bigger" things for the duo moving forward, thanks in large part to positive word of mouth. "It seems like it from the reaction we're getting, it keeps going as word of mouth spreads," he said. "I think word of mouth has been one of the biggest things that help people embrace us and our sound."
