Doja Cat attributes her self-described status as a “serial dater” to age, ovulation, and horniness.
Speaking with Liam Hess for Vogue, as seen here, the Vie artist—whose Tour Ma Vie run is set to hit the U.S. in October—was asked if that label still applies to her current approach to dating.
Doja confirmed that it did, then offered an explanation.
“I’m 30, so I’m ovulating and horny,” she said, though she declined to specify whom she’s dating these days.
The Grammy winner also spoke positively about her experience with therapy, saying it led to her evolved thoughts on romantic relationships at large.
“It’s allowed me to be away and be at peace without being like, ‘I need tarot cards. I need an answer. Text me,’” Doja explained. “I don’t do any of that anymore. It’s very nice.”
The cover story interview comes just under six months after the release of Vie, Doja’s fifth studio effort.
Some of the sessions for the album, featuring production from Jack Antonoff on the bulk of its 15 tracks, took place at the legendary Electric Lady space in New York City’s Greenwich Village. Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, D’Angelo, Weezer, Sabrina Carpenter, and numerous other artists have recorded in the historic space in the past.
“These songs can be pertained to the relationship with yourself or others,” Doja told fans upon Vie’s release last year. “I feel strongly about the meaning of the word ‘vie’ because without life there is no love, and without love, there is no adventure. This is an adventurous album and with homages and nods to the 80s, 70s, and 90s, I wanted to give my own personal modern twist.”
The latest artistic transformation from Doja came amid a continuation of her uniquely entertaining social media presence.
