Chance the Rapper Shares New Song and Video “Child of God” f/ Artwork by Naïla Opiangah

For his first solo-billed release since last year's "The Heart & the Tongue," Chance has linked up with artist Naïla Opiangah for a multifaceted experience.

Chance the Rapper is tapping into multiple mediums for the release of his new track “Child of God,” which marks the three-time Grammy winner’s first solo-billed release since last year’s “The Heart & the Tongue.”

The song boasts contributions from Moses Sumney, who last year made an appearance on the Metallica-sanctioned covers compilation The Metallica Blacklist. Credited with production on the latest Chance release are DEXLVL, Al Hug, and Peter CottonTale.

Painter Naïla Opiangah, meanwhile, was enlisted to further expand the “Child of God” release with a painting. The two worked together at Chance’s House of Kicks studio in Chicago, with the Coloring Book artist handling directing and other creative duties while Naïla worked on bringing to life a new piece that stands 11 feet tall and six feet wide.

In a joint statement, Chance and Naïla said the larger “Child of God” project was designed to serve as a “candid representation” of the exchanges between two creative voices who come from different (albeit complementary) backgrounds. “It’s a visualization of our mirrored experience,” the two said.

Starting this week and running through March 29, visitors to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago can experience Chance and Naïla’s art exhibition in person. “Child of God,” the song, is also available here via the streamer of your choice.
