Cardi B has given fans an update on the status of her new album, which marks the follow-up to the Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy.

Speaking with Baller Alert for an interview published this week, Cardi confirmed that sessions for the sophomore collection were still in progress, specifically noting that the tracklist still needed some "club hits" before it could be considered done.

"I have my cool, calm, and [collected] songs, just missing a couple more club hits," she said. "But we're getting there." Asked for some release date clarity, Cardi explained why she doesn't like putting firm date commitments on new music.

"I can never put a date on it because, like, when you feel like you've got those songs, that's when it’s gonna come out," she said. "I can not put a date on my ears, you know what I'm saying?"

Cardi was also asked to share any advice she may have for up-and-coming artists, resulting in some sage suggestions regarding legal know-how.

"Always get a lawyer, always have a lawyer," she said. "No matter what you do, always get a lawyer. I don't care if you're broke—this, this, and that—before you invest on anything, make sure you invest in a lawyer."

The latest new album update arrives amid headlines centered on Cardi B's reminder to Tomi Lahren that she will "dog walk" her. The reminder, as reported Monday, came in the wake of Lahren's Trump-promoting comments of criticism against JAY-Z andBeyoncé.
