Netflix is furthering its foothold in the live event space with a just-announced surprise from Beyoncé.

Indeed, on Christmas Day no less, the 2025 Grammys nominee will be performing live during halftime at the Houston Texans-hosted game against the Baltimore Ravens at NRG Stadium. The game is set to kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET, with another Netflix-streamed game, the Kansas City Chiefs against the Pittsburgh Steelers, preceded it at 1:00 p.m. ET.

As expected, not much has been revealed about the performance itself, though press notes accompanying Monday’s announcement make sure to point out (as fans already know) that the halftime show will mark the first-ever live performances of tracks off her latest album, Cowboy Carter. Producing the special performance are Beyoncé’s own Parkwood Entertainment and Jesse Collins Entertainment. Fans can also look forward to an assortment of Cowboy Carter collaborators also taking the stage in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston on Dec. 25.

Anyone reading this should need no reminder that Beyoncé’s past NFL performances include a pair of Super Bowls, one in which she headlined (2013 in New Orleans) and one in which she joined Coldplay as a special guest (2016 in Santa Clara). With Cowboy Carter currently fresh off receiving multiple nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album, the hype surrounding this timely performance is unsurprisingly high.

Amid the celebration, some have joked about the presumed server load from such an event. This, of course, is a playful nod to the streaming issues some temporarily faced during the recent Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight.

Worth pointing out here is that the Ravens won the Super Bowl back in 2013, i.e. the same aforementioned year that counted Beyoncé as its halftime headliner.

Other live events on Netflix’s slate include a Monday Night Raw featuring 2024 ComplexCon artistic director and performer Travis Scott in January, the 2025 SAG Awards, and an untitled variety talk show hosted by John Mulaney.
