Some Beyoncé Fans Are Convinced She Made Reference to Donald Glover’s ‘Swarm’ During Renaissance Tour Set

During the opening night of her Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé made a quick remark that some fans have taken as a dig at the acclaimed ‘Swarm’ series.

A few Beyoncé fans have drawn attention to a moment from the opening night of the singer’s Renaissance World Tour, particularly the use of the word “swarm.”

As seen in the clip below, Beyoncé was kicking off a run-through of the Renaissance track “America Has a Problem” when she said to the crowd, “Swarm on these hands, n***a!” Swarm, of course, is also the title of Donald Glover and Janine Nabers’ recently released Prime Video series.

The acclaimed series focuses on an obsessed fan (played by Dominique Fishback) of a Beyoncé-like popstar who turns to a series of violent acts across a number of states following the death of her foster sister, played by Chloe Bailey. Of course, it’s supremely unlikely (for a number of reasons) that the above clip is actually an example of Beyoncé calling out the series. More likely, it should be viewed as a playful remark, particularly given the bee-inspired stage attire.

Still, that didn’t stop (and never does) the speculation.

Swarm, out now, has garnered strong reviews since its release back in March. Complex recently sat down with production designer Sara K White to discuss the unique challenges of bringing Fishback’s character to the screen, including the need to visually signal her growing isolation as the story progressed.
