Ariana Grande Joins Fans for NYC Sweetener Sessions After VMAs

Ariana Grande fans got the bonus of seeing a Pete Davidson introduction, followed shortly by a performance of the track "Pete Davidson," at last night's inaugural #SweetnerSessions event.

Following her stellar performance of "God Is a Woman" at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City Monday night, Ariana Grande and fans gathered at Irving Plaza for an enviably intimate run-through of even more Sweetener cuts.

The American Express-backed Sweetener Sessions event included live renditions of "No Tears Left to Cry," "Raindrops," "Pete Davidson," and more. Davidson was there to introduce Grande; he's described their engagement as both "fucking lit" and "so sick." Madonna and Karlie Kloss were also in attendance.

For her Dave Meyers-directed video for "No Tears Left to Cry," Grande took home the Best Pop Video honors at last night's VMAs ceremony. That shouldn't come as a surprise.

Fans hoping to participate in the euphoria of the Sweetener Sessions will have opportunities at the Vic in Chicago on Aug. 22 and the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on Aug. 25.

As manager Scooter Braun informed us Monday, Grande is also now offering what's called a "Sweetener Pass" via her web store. The pass, which costs just $10 and includes a digital copy of the album, gives fans "all access" when used with a ticket to an upcoming (and still-to-be-announced) 2019 arena show.
