For what is approximately the one trillionth news article on 50 Cent’s Instagram activity this year, we turn to the latest chapter in his podcast-focused feud with Jim Jones.
On Thursday (Dec. 18), the Sean Combs: The Reckoning executive producer shared purported audio of what has been widely assumed to be the voice of the person who owns the building where Jones’s podcast is filmed.
For context, Fif previously put forth the claim that Jones and other Let’s Rap About It hosts—including Maino, Fabolous, and Dave East—were “squatting” in the space. This was followed by an offer, presumably a joking one (but you never know with Fif), to buy the space, plus a “50 percent” stake in the podcast itself. Maino, notably, has since joked about the squatters claim, saying in a video shared to social media, “We out here squatting.”
Now, Fif has seemingly turned up the heat, doubling down on his prior claims.
“I don’t know why these people start with me,” he wrote in an Instagram update shared on Thursday. “If I wasn’t me, I would leave me alone. Get your business together guys!”
Alongside two photos of himself, Fif included an audio recording, which some have speculated stems from a phone call. This, however, has not been verified.
“He won’t sign the lease,” the individual, since speculated to be the owner of the space where Jones and company record their podcast, is heard saying in the clip. “He’s like, ‘I don’t like these terms. I want six months of buildout.’ Ridiculous bullshit. We also have a partnership agreement where half of what he’s building now, his media, belongs to us. But he won’t tell us how much he’s making, and doing all these things. So half of the content he’s creating, if you wanted to buy that too, I’ll sell you half the company.”
The individual goes on to estimate that this is all worth “very little,” or even “nothing,” but offers to “throw that in as a sweetener” anyway.
“What I’m trying to say is, he signed a lease with me,” the individual adds. “Right now, he owes—I’m gonna say it in a short way—at least $80,000 if not $180,000.”
Given 50 Cent’s penchant for routinely sharing nefarious AI concoctions amid his various feuds, it’s unclear whether this audio is, in fact, legitimate. He didn’t immediately provide additional context, nor is he himself heard in the audio.
In a previous IG update, Fif wrote, “So Jim wired the 200k over. … Ok cool. He may turn out to be a good tenant after all. Samuel, if you need me to make them pay, just give me a ring. I’m here.”
Jim Jones does not appear to have directly addressed 50’s latest act of Instagrammery. On Thursday, however, he did reshare a post to his IG Stories that could be interpreted as being related.
“Imagine you hating on someone and they just keep winning,” the post reads. “Wake up GOOFYS!!”
