21 Savage Shares 'American Dream' Trailer Starring Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin

The trailer features new music from 21, who's also joined by Jabari Banks as Metro Boomin.

Savage Season is in full swing.

Monday, mere hours after a poster was shared featuring Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin adorned with 21 Savage’s forehead dagger tattoo, fans were given the official trailer for American Dream: The 21 Savage Story. Per press notes, the trailer marks the beginning of a new era for 21, whose most recent solo studio album I Am > I Was arrived back in December 2018.

The four-minute trailer gives us the first listen of a new 21 track, the instantly stuck-in-your-head hook of which sees the Grammy winner rapping "My shooter pescatarian but he eat up all the beef."

As the song plays, we're introduced to Glover and McLaughlin's depictions of 21 at different ages.

“These people, they think we’re savages,” a young 21 is told. “Remember the wishing star. Whenever you feel lost, just remember I’m looking up at that same star. That star is your dream, and they can never take it.”

See the extremely rewatchable trailer—which counts Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji as directors—in full up top. Joining Glover and McLaughlin in the cast are Jabari Banks (as Metro Boomin), Natasha Lyonne, Young Mazino, Druski, Victoria Pedretti, Chad Lindberg, and Gail Bean. American Dream is written by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover.

The final frames of the surprise-dropped trailer point to an Independence Day theatrical rollout, while "music inspired by the film" is set for Jan. 12. As for whether this will actually end up being a full-fledged biopic or more of an extended visual experience meant to bring a new album to life, remains to be seen.
