On the Tuesday, July 15 episode of Good Morning America, pop superstar Miley Cyrus got candid about the possibility of touring for her new album, Something Beautiful.

It's been over 10 years since the former Hannah Montana icon toured for an album. In 2014, the successful Bangerz circuit took her all over the world. These days, the 32-year-old "Flowers" singer is choosing to clarify the reasons why she doesn’t want to tour.

“I do have the physical ability, and I have the opportunity to tour,” she said. “I wish I had the desire, but I don’t."

"I also don’t think there’s actually an infrastructure that supports artists," she continued. "The artists like Prince, that are not here today, that lived such a high-intensity lifestyle. You're out on the road, and it’s hard to maintain sobriety when you’re on the road, which is a really important pillar of stability in my life. Not only losing their life but losing their minds."

The "Wrecking Ball" songstress has often been transparent about her sobriety. In a recent interview with Apple Music, she revealed that she stopped smoking marijuana in 2017 and quit drinking alcohol in 2020.

During her most recent GMA interview, she went on to state that not only was touring not supportive of her sobriety, but that it also wasn’t helpful for her mental health.

“You have so many thousands of people screaming at you, so there ’s dopamine, you’re feeling a lot of love, and then you totally crash at the end of the show,” she said. “You start thinking that one person loving you is not enough. It needs to be 10,000, it needs to be 80,000.”

Fans were quick to rally around Cyrus, with many admiring her decision to be candid.

“At least she is honest about not wanting to tour while some artists just show up uninterested for the sake of money,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“I would not want to be touring now either if I had embarked on a full-time career at the age of twelve.” said a commenter on Reddit, with another adding, “As much as I'd be thrilled to see her perform live, I can only imagine how exhausting and soul crushing touring could potentially be, especially if you're not really into it.”

The most recent album from Miley Cyrus, titled Something Beautiful, was released this past May.
