French Montana Teams With Global Citizen for #2BStrong Health Care Campaign

French and Global Citizen are advocating for better child and maternal health care throughout the African Union.

French Montana's "Unforgettable" has turned into far more than a song. While visiting Uganda to shoot the track's video (and to visit the Triplets Ghetto Kids, whose YouTube videos had blown him away), French visited the Suubi Health Center and was inspired enough by their work not only to donate money and encourage his friends and fans to do the same, but also to start a campaign to build maternity wards throughout the country.

Now, French has taken an even bigger step. He has teamed up with the "social action platform" Global Citizen for their #2BStrong campaign. The organization is putting together a petition to African Union leaders to encourage them to improve child and maternal health care by 2020. You can read and sign the petition here.

"I feel like every mother and child deserves the same care, whether they’re from [the U.S.] or back home in the motherland," Montana told Newsweek. "Everybody should be equal. The leaders should step up... I hope I raise awareness for them to step up. I feel like, if we don’t [raise awareness], it’ll only get worse."
