Eminem Details Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin's Involvement in Upcoming Album 'Revival'

Rick Rubin, Dr. Dre, and some very meta rapping.

Just as Thursday was turning into Friday, Eminem retweeted an announcement from his satellite radio station Shade 45, saying that he would be appearing on the station with Lord Sear and DJ Whoo Kid:

When the magic hour finally hit, fans got what they had been waiting for. Em and the DJs were joined by manager (and soon-to-be Def Jam CEO) Paul Rosenberg, Denaun Porter, and the Alchemist. After extensive joking around (including very meta moments of Em jokingly rhyming like his younger self), the crew shared information about the rap megastar's highly-anticipated album Revival. You can check out the full interview up top.

Em discussed how Beyoncé ended up the album track "Walk on Water."

"Everything she does is so perfect," the rap god explained. "But the pressures behind that, for her to do it so perfect—I felt like she could probably relate to that."

Em said that Rick Rubin produced three or four songs on Revival and had "worked on a lot of the album" in an executive producer capacity, and that Dr. Dre "mixed a few records." He also praised "Walk on Water" co-writer and frequent collaborator Skylar Grey, calling her "one of the most amazing writers."

The Detroit rapper was asked about today's hip-hop, and said, "Watching how some of us were able to watch hip-hop in its infancy stages, and watch it grow—all the transformations that it's gone through to come to this day and age... The sound and the way people are playing with flows and shit like that, I can certainly appreciate it."

Naturally, the discussion also turned to Em's Trump-dissing BET freestyle.

"I can't stand that motherfucker," he said of the president, to the surprise of, well, absolutely nobody. "I was kind of waiting for him to say something [in response to the verse]. For some reason, he didn't say anything."

Eminem and Rosenberg also spoke about the movie Bodied, which the rapper produced. "It's a take on the battle rap scene, and it's a fish-out-of-water story too," Rosenberg explained.
