A protracted legal and personal battle between Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records executive Bryan “Birdman” Williams likely means Wayne’s fans won’t see a release of Tha Carter V anytime soon. However, new audio from fellow former Cash Money artist Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne may be on the horizon.

During an appearance on Da Takeover Podcast with hosts Thedo and Maq, Fresh played a mix of various Wayne tracks. Included in the mix was a track featuring the chorus: “We gone start this shit off right/We got bad ass bitches in the house tonight.” Wayne fans may remember this song title from a rumored tracklist for Tha Carter V back in 2014. The original listing displayed Wayne’s former flame Christina Milian as a featured artist, but it was not clear if Milian was on the two-minute snippet Mannie Fresh previewed. Listeners have already ripped the audio from the podcast and uploaded the preview to YouTube.

After a string of commercially successful releases, Cash Money members Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, B.G. and Turk each left the label amid accusations of not being properly compensated. Wayne essentially joined the list of former Cash Money artists after filing a $51 million suit against Williams in January of 2015. He’s since taken verbal jabs at Williams.
