The nominees for the 2022 Juno Awards are finally here, and Montreal’s Charlotte Cardin scored the most nods at six nominations.

Cardin released her debut album Phoenix last year, and she’s up for several awards including Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, and Music Video of the Year. When we caught up with her to talk about Phoenix last year she shared: “It was such a liberating process for me on a lot of levels, even professionally, I felt like I’ve evolved so much. I learned so much making this album.”

Cardin will perform at the show on May 15 alongside Avril Lavigne, Arkells, and Mustafa, with Simu Liu hosting.

Justin Bieber and The Weekndfollow Cardin with five nominations each, and will both be competing for TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, Single of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

For first-time nominees, Pressa is nominated for TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Rap Album/EP of the Year, and Rap Single of the Year. Mustafa is also nominated for the first time for Songwriter of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year, and NorthSideBenji also has his first two nods, one for Rap Album/EP of the Year and another for Rap Single of the Year.

This year, the Junos have two new categories, as Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year will now have two awards—one for Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year, and Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year.
